Areal Flood Watch
Issued by the National Weather Service at 2:52 PM EST on March 12, 2010

... Flood Watch remains in effect from 7 PM EST this evening
through late Saturday night...

The Flood Watch continues for

* a portion of central Pennsylvania... including the following
areas... Adams... Bedford... Blair... Clearfield... Columbia...
Cumberland... Dauphin... Franklin... Fulton... Huntingdon...
Juniata... Lancaster... Lebanon... Mifflin... Montour... northern
centre... northern Clinton... northern Lycoming...
Northumberland... Perry... Schuylkill... Snyder... southern
centre... southern Clinton... southern Lycoming... Sullivan...
Tioga... Union and York.

* From 7 PM EST this evening through late Saturday night.

* Surface low pressure developing along the Carolina coast will
move slowly north along the mid Atlantic Coastal Plain this
weekend. An increasingly moist... east to southeast low level
flow will strengthen ahead of this storm system... drawing deep
Atlantic moisture northwest into central Pennsylvania. The
heaviest rainfall is expected from late tonight through
Saturday evening.

* Widespread rainfall amounts of 2 to 3 inches are expected with
this storm system. Local heavier amounts of up to 4 inches are
possible. The locally very heavy rain has the potential to
cause dangerous flooding over the next couple of
days... especially along streams and creeks. Persons near flood
prone areas should keep a close watch on later
forecasts... statements and changing weather conditions.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding on small
streams... creeks... poor drainage... urban and low-lying areas
based on current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
